Good Morning Britain’s presenter Piers Morgan slammed the decision to let a transgender athlete compete in women’s Olympics.

The GMB presenter claimed women’s sport is suffering because trans athletes compete in female divisions. His comments were fuelled after transgender weightlifter Laurel Hubbard, 41, won two gold medals at the Roma World Cup. Laurel had previously competed in weightlifting as a man.

Laurel has now stated ‘she’ is hoping to compete in the Olympics. Piers responded stating; “this is insane. Women’s rights to basic fairness and equality are getting destroyed at the alter of political correctness.”

He then took to Twitter continuing; “Trans women born with biological male bodies have a massive physical advantage over women born with female bodies in any sport where power & strength are significant factors. This shouldn’t be a contentious claim, it’s just a rather obvious fact.”
