Cristiano Ronaldo Faces No Charges After Alleged Rape Claim
In 2010 Kathryn Mayorga accused football star Cristiano Ronaldo of allegedly raping her in 2009. In 2010 both parties reached an out-of-court settlement. However in 2018 she fought to reopen the case.
Ronaldo denied the awful allegations. In was found in court that the claims made by Kathryn could not be proven beyond reasonable doubt. In In 2009 the victim reported the assault however refused to state where it happened or who the attacker was. The police were not able to conduct a meaningful investigation.
In 2018 the police began investigating the claims again at the request of the victim. This time she was more forthcoming with information. However the police statement added “Based upon a review of information at this time, the allegations of sexual assault against Cristiano Ronaldo cannot be proven beyond reasonable doubt. Therefore, no charges will be forthcoming.”
Kathryn Mayorga’s lawyer said that she was inspired to re-open the case by the #MeToo movement.
