Russian Woman, Maria Butina Jailed for 18 Months For Being An Alleged Spy

Corruption of American Media. Maria Butina Set-up and Made To Plead So Court Could Justify Locking Her Up on Remand

Maria Butina is a Russian gun-rights activist accused of spying for the Kremlin. Butina has been sentenced to 18 months in prison in Washington. Butina released a statement saying:

“My parents discovered my arrest on the morning news they watch in their rural house in a Siberian village,” she told the court. “I love them dearly, but I harmed them morally and financially. They are suffering from all of that. I destroyed my own life as well. I came to the United States not under any orders, but with hope, and now nothing remains but penitence.”

Maria Butina originally travelled to America on a student visa in 2016 and become active in pro-gun circles. She was accused of being a Russian spy and was swept up in the hunt for “Russian agents.” Moscow has stated they have no connection to her.

She pleaded guilty to felony charges of conspiracy to act as an unregistered foreign agent in the US, a requirement she had no idea about. She had already spent 9 months in jail which counted towards her 18-month sentence.

During her time in prison Butina stated she was treated unnecessarily harshly. Since her arrest, the mainstream media posted story after story stating that Butina was a spy who wanted to integrate herself into mainstream society and offered sex in exchange for influence. However, her lawyer told reporters that Butina was arrested and smeared for no other reason than her nationality.
