Singer Chris Brown Falsely Accused of Rape

Chris Brown Was Falsely Accused of Rape

On the 24th January 2019, Chris Brown filed a false accusation complaint in Paris against a woman who accused him of rape. On Tuesday the 22nd January 2019 Mr Brown was released without charge following questioning by the Paris Police over an allegation that he raped a woman at a hotel in the city.

The one-page complaint, submitted by Mr Brown’s lawyer, asked the Paris Public Prosecutor’s office to investigate the claim as a criminal matter. The charge carries a penalty of five years in prison and a fine of around $50,000.

The BBC reported:

US singer Chris Brown has been released without charge in Paris after being questioned on suspicion of rape, French police say. An investigation into the alleged incident is continuing, the Paris prosecutor’s office said. The star and two other men were arrested after a 24-year-old woman alleged she was assaulted in a hotel in the city. After his release, Brown took to social media to deny any wrongdoing.

“I want to make it perfectly clear, this is false,” he wrote on Instagram, alongside a picture that said: “This bitch lyin’.”

He added: “I wanna make it perfectly clear…this is false,” before going on to say it was “against my character and morals”.

Brown’s lawyer, Raphael Chiche, said the R&B singer “energetically” professed his innocence and intended to sue for defamation. The two men arrested with Brown, identified by French media as a bodyguard and a friend, have also reportedly been released. The alleged incident was said to have occurred at the luxury Mandarin Oriental hotel on 15 January.

Another False Accusation on 1st March 2019

While Mr Brown was cleared for an alleged rape that went down in France in January, his friend who was accused of raping a woman at the singer’s home will not face any charges for the alleged incident.

The District Attorney’s office has stated that they won’t file any charges against Chris Brown’s friend, Lowell Grissom Jr after they found there was an insufficient amount of evidence. The legal documents obtained by the gossip website stated, “based upon the lack of corroborating evidence and some slight discrepancies in the victim’s version of the facts, this matter cannot be proven without a reasonable doubt. Therefore, with the concurrence of the investigating officer, prosecution will be declined.”

The civil suit against Chris Brown and Lowell Grissom Jr. is still ongoing. Gloria Allred, a famed lawyer, held a press conference after the D.A.’s office announced that they wouldn’t be filing charges against Grissom. She said the case was “one of the most horrific sexual assault cases” she’s ever seen.

Following the allegations, Grissom denied that he had raped the woman. His attorney maintained his client’s innocence while ripping Allred, saying, “This civil lawsuit is a blatant attempt at a money grab and to harm the reputation of my client while encouraging PR noise for Gloria Allred while she exploits this young man for her own financial gains and public persona.
