UA False Accuser Student Scammer Emma Katherine Mannion Charged With Making False Rape Report After She Admits To Police That She Lied
An 18-year-old University of Alabama student was charged for falsely reporting she was raped in a parking lot near the campus, Tuscaloosa County Metro Homicide investigators announced.
The student, Emma Katherine Mannion, was charged with filing a false report, a Class A misdemeanor, Captain Gary Hood said.
The student told police she was forced into a red Jeep Cherokee and sexually assaulted. She said it happened in Solomon’s parking lot near 6th Street and Wade Wallace Boulevard, near the northwest corner of Bryant-Denny Stadium.
Police initially reported there were two suspects in the case.
Captain Hood said they interviewed witnessed and recovered video surveillance of the area that did not support Mannion’s initial account of what happened.
“After confronting Mannion with this evidence, Mannion admitted to investigators she falsified her report,” Hood said.
She was booked in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on a $300 bond.
